1st Ruddington Scouts celebrates its 80th birthday on Wednesday 12th July 2023. The Group is thriving, with three Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs and two Scout Troops, numbering over 130 young people in all. They’re supported by more than 40 adult volunteers as leaders and trustees.
We recently held a birthday camp for the entire Group, taking over 100 individuals to a camp site in Ashby. The weather was glorious and the young people took part in a number of adventure activities, including zip lining, abseiling and bushcraft. The traditional sing song around a campfire in the evening was enthusiastically joined in by all!
To commemorate turning 80, we held a badge design competition. The trustees couldn’t choose between two of the best designs and decided to combine them (see picture). Well done to the winners, Niamh and Ellie! Badges will be given to all children and leaders.
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ruddington residents for their ongoing generous support of the Group and will continue to engage with the community to support the Village Market and periodic litter picking. If there are other events you’d like us to support, do get in touch at chair@ruddscouts.org.uk.
