This summer sees the fourth inter-school 5p Challenge in Ruddington. The idea is for the pupils of James Peacock Infant & Nursery School and St Peter’s Junior School to collect as many 5p pieces as they can from family, friends and neighbours during the summer holidays.
The coins are then taken into their respective schools at the beginning of the autumn term and given to the “Friends of School”. Both Friends groups then declare their total and the one with the most wins the 5p Challenge Trophy. Currently, James Peacock holds the trophy.
Both schools have been delighted by the support given by the wider community to this fun fundraising effort. Local businesses have hosted collection pots and whatever their customers have donated has been split 50/50 between the two schools.
Everyone is welcome to join in the fun! If you’d like to host a collection pot or directly donate any spare coins, please contact me at ruddingtonfun@virginmedia.com.
Thank you on behalf of both schools.
