During the recent school summer holidays, the third inter-school fundraising 5p Challenge was held. Pupils at James Peacock and St Peter’s Schools were encouraged to collect 5p coins, with the school collecting the most coins winning the 5p Challenge Trophy.
Local businesses kindly offered to host collection points for their customers to also donate coins, with these being split between the two schools. Both schools would like to thank The Black Cat Cafe, Evans Pharmacy, Grange News & Bakery, Jasper’s Café, Perkins Hardware and Ruddington Village Butchers.
Numerous coins flooded in and the total donated was £364.40 – that’s 7,288 coins! James Peacock won the trophy this year, collecting £260.50 versus St Peter’s £103.90. All the 5p donations will enable the Friends groups of each school to enhance the resources and activities at their respective schools.
We’d like to say a huge “Thanks!” to everyone who took part.
Barbara Breakwell, Treasurer, Friends of James Peacock
