During the recent school summer holidays, the fourth inter-school fundraising “5p Challenge” was held. Pupils at James Peacock Infant and Nursery School and St Peter’s Junior School were encouraged to collect 5p coins over the summer.
Five local businesses also kindly offered to have collection points for their customers to donate coins, with the proceeds being split between St Peter’s and James Peacock.
Both schools would like to thank Evans Pharmacy, Jaspers Café, Perkins Hardware, The Sweetie Boutique and The Village Butcher.
Numerous coins flooded in and the total donated was £254.50, equal to 5,090 5p coins! St Peter’s School was this year’s winner, collecting £150.10 versus James Peacock’s £104.40
All the donations will enable the Friends groups that support each school to enhance the range of resources and activities on offer for local pupils.
Huge thanks to everyone who took part in this year’s event.
