Since 2008, Mr Mapperley has been the Head Teacher at St Peter’s Junior School. After 30 years in education and 12 years at St Peter’s, he has decided he would like to pursue other options and will leave the school at the end of the autumn term.
When I recently spoke to him, he commented “I can’t think of a better place to be a Head Teacher.”
Mr Mapperley acknowledged the unique setting of the school in such amazing grounds and the fact that the site has had a lot of investment put into it during his time as Head. He said, “I’m proud of what I’m passing on to the new Head Teacher, Mr Bradley: a fabulous staff team, unrivalled facilities and delightful pupils. Mr Bradley will join the school in January 2020 from his current post as a Deputy Head of a school in Eastwood”
Mr Mapperley also wants to thank the community of Ruddington “who steadfastly invest their wholehearted support in both the village schools.”
His plans for 2020 and beyond are yet to be finalised, but are likely to include a combination of employment in education, voluntary work, and more time gardening, hiking, playing sport and completing the low energy retrofit on the family home (he says he’ll happily talk endlessly about this to anyone who’s interested enough!).
Whatever Mr Mapperley elects to do, we wish him all the best for the future.
