From January this year, a space has been set aside at the Hareham Garden Allotments to support the wellbeing of people in Ruddington. Through the winter, spring, and summer we have met on a Monday between 12 noon and 2pm to dig, grow and weed the allotment but also to gently work together, chat and develop relationships.
We know the past 18 months have been tough on people’s mental health and wellbeing, and many people feel isolated. The open space of the allotment has meant that we have been able to get together safely and legally outside, and have continued to meet, grow plants, and grow relationships.
Renew Green Spaces is run by volunteers from Ruddington Baptist Church and is connected to the Renew Cafe which meets at The Hub on Musters Road on Wednesdays from 2.30 to 4pm.
Renew Green Spaces is about being outside, enjoying the opportunity to garden, but also to rest and restore in the company of others.
If you would like to visit the allotment or maybe you have a friend or family member who’s struggling with their mental health, anxiety or isolation and who may benefit from trying out Renew Green Spaces then contact Sam Hackett at sam.hackett@ruddingtonbaptist.org.uk or on 07403 519 704.
