…and the Friends’ 10th Anniversary Prize Draw
The doors of James Peacock School are being thrown open on Sunday 24th March from 11am to 2pm for our annual Food Fair. This is run by the Friends of James Peacock School, with proceeds going towards buying things that enhance the children’s education but aren’t covered by the school’s budget.
This is the 10th year the Friends of School have existed as a charity and over the last few years, we’ve raised more than £10,000 a year for the school. We’d like to thank everyone who’s helped us achieve these fantastic figures!
We’d LOVE to see as many people as possible at our 2019 Food Fair, whether or not you have children at the school. The Fair is growing year on year, with stalls where you can buy things to take home and also a Food Court so you can have lunch with us.
Stall holders attending so far include The Jam Lady with her sumptuous jams and chutneys, FABchocolats and The Nice Lolly Company (who also provide vegan options), Freshly Spiced with their fantastic array of herbs and spices, and Brocklebys with their award-winning pies which are perfect for freezing and sold out very quickly at the first Ruddington market!
Also at the Fair will be our very own Ruddington Village Butcher selling meats and cheeses, The Old Bakehouse supplying delicious cakes, The Black Cat Café with sausage rolls, scotch eggs and pastries (including vegan options) and Sweetie Boutique with all kinds of confectionery. These local stalls will enable people who can’t make it to these shops in the week try out what they have to offer!
Food options available for immediate consumption at our Food Court will include a Caribbean BBQ, wood-fired pizzas, crepes and pancakes, popcorn and candy floss as well as our local Split Screen Coffee campervan. There’ll also be a licensed bar with prosecco and beer for the adults!
Crafts and activities on offer will include badge-making and a bouncy castle (weather permitting), thanks to Clifton Castles, and the opportunity to have a henna or glitter tattoo.
The Friends of School will be selling tickets to win our infamous Wheelbarrow of Wine, as well as the 10th Anniversary Prize Draw with a chance to win a range of fantastic prizes. Both will be drawn at the event. We’ll also be selling raffle tickets in the Co-op on Saturday 16th March between 10am and 12 noon.
Entry to the Food Fair is £1 for adults and free for children; a great opportunity to check out the school if you’re a parent of a pre-schooler in the area!
Keep an eye out for posters in the village and we look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible on the day. If you’re interested in attending as a stallholder, please email fjp.committee@yahoo.co.uk.
