Ruddington resident Jane Piggott, a Save the Children volunteer, has just returned from a visit to Cambodia to see for herself some of the work that the charity is doing there.
On 9th November, a team of 6 volunteers and one staff member headed to Phnom Penh. During a 10 day visit, the group travelled to three different provinces in Cambodia to see some of the current Save the Children projects; these were related to education, health provision and child protection.
Save the Children has been working in Cambodia since 1970, promoting children’s access to health care and basic education, protecting children from abuse, supporting orphans and vulnerable children affected by HIV, and promoting children’s rights. Save the Children’s mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve lasting change for children.
Jane is a volunteer speaker for Save the Children and would welcome any enquiries from groups or organisations that would like to hear more about the charity’s work generally or about the Cambodia visit in particular.
You can contact Jane by email at je.piggott@btinternet.com or by phone on 07790 295266.
