Hi, I’m Laura Dix, the owner of Caterpillar Music, Rushcliffe. I run music, sensory and movement classes for nought to four years olds across the Rushcliffe area.
After teaching in primary education for over 20 years, I decided to take a leap of faith last year and buy my own franchise, with the hope of being able to work around school hours and my two young children. I’m pleased to say I haven’t looked back!
Having started classes last September in Edwalton and Radcliffe on Trent, I launched classes in Ruddington in the New Year at the Jubilee Clubhouse on Wednesdays. I’m pleased to say these have grown in popularity, week on week.
Our classes all have a weekly theme, providing lots of opportunities for learning new vocabulary and language whilst following a familiar format for the children. Each week we begin with our favourite nursery rhymes, before getting out our puppets who love to dance and sing with us.
Instruments follow (always the children’s favourite part of the class), where we explore a range of different instruments and rhythms. Action songs related to the theme come next, often with pom poms, scarves or ribbons which the children love.
We finish each week with bubbles before waving goodbye to our Caterpillar Music friends until the next time.
The classes are always fun filled and full of smiles. I love watching the children develop and grow in confidence every week, and it’s wonderful to meet lots of new faces in our lovely village.
I’m looking forward to the next few weeks where we’ll be going on Safari and exploring Food, before our Easter class in the last week of term. If you have a little one between the ages of nought and four, come and join us for a trial session. (Siblings come free.) We’d love to meet you!
