St. Mary’s Community Park Official Opening.
On Saturday 28th February St. Mary’s Community Park Project was delighted to host the official opening of Phase 1 of the community park. The aim of the afternoon was to say a huge thank you to all who have contributed and supported our endeavours during the last two years.
We were overwhelmed by the fantastic turnout by both the general public and invited guests on what can only be described as a dull and chilly February day! Adults were able to enjoy a glass of fizz and tasty strawberries whilst children were treated to hand made cakes and biscuits kindly made by members of Ruddington Baptist Church. Ruddington Fun provided fun art activities for the children to enjoy, and Ruddington Day Nursery were busy all afternoon turning children into their favourite characters by means of face painting. Once again we thank you all for your support and hard work.
Isaac and Finlay Herbison proudly cut the ribbon in memory of their mummy Nikki Herbison, together with Adrian, Nikki’s husband. Sadly, Nikki who had been the Chair of the Committee, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in May last year, and whilst the day was in celebration, it was also in fond memory of Nikki, much cherished and missed!
Following the ribbon cutting, children gathered in and around the new play equipment and released balloons into the air!
Cheryl Raynor from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited) presented a plaque to commemorate the installation of Phase 1. The WREN funding was the much needed cash boost we were looking for to be able to install the phase 1 play equipment.
We would like to thank everybody who has helped out or donated along the way, and we ask that you continue to support us for Phase 2. We are delighted that so many of you came along to share in the celebrations! It was a truly special afternoon for all!
