The lockdown roadmap will have come as a huge relief to the many non-essential retailers and outlets in Ruddington that have had to modify or curtail their trading activities, or close altogether. And as the (tentative) landmark date of 12th April looms, when non-essential retail will hopefully reopen, we can look forward to some new faces joining our established traders in and around the High Street.
All the units in The Courtyard, a brand new shopping precinct, have now been let. The two newest incumbents are The Pet Pantry, a pet food and supplies outlet, and Benjamin’s Estate and Letting Agent (pictured) who are opening their third branch in Rushcliffe.
Joining them elsewhere will be the new SPAR store on Wilford Road (see separate article) and two new shops in the former Barclays & Cook premises on High Street, which are still to be confirmed.
There are still a couple of vacant units in the village centre, notably the sites where Nottingham Building Society and Ruddington Village Butchers used to trade. Fingers crossed that these, too, will have new tenants or owners soon.
