The Children’s Society Golf Day was launched back in 1991, raising £1,000 for the charity. It was so popular it became an annual fundraising event.
In 2005 the Children’s Society made the decision to discontinue their adoption programme and handed over the mantle to the Coram Family charity.
The Coram Family charity who now receive a guaranteed £3,000 per year from the golf day.
This money is used to support vulnerable children and young people, helping them to live happier and more fulfilled lives.
The remainder of profits from the day is now split between local children’s charities, schools, sporting organisations and playgroups. The chosen charities for 2016 are The Coram Family, Rutland House School for Parents and the Phoenix Children’s Foundation.
Over the years the event has raised over £125,000, an incredible achievement. Organisers are hoping to make this year extra special to mark the anniversary.
This year’s tournament takes place on Friday 15 August at the Ruddington Grange Golf Club. If you’d like to sponsor a hole, get involved by entering a 4-ball team or donate raffle or auction prizes, please call Margaret Thorpe on 0115 921 6856.
