Ruddington and District Choral Society gave a cheque for £423 to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Angela Kehoe from the Trust was pleased to receive the cheque from Tony Grove, chair of the choir.
Angela explained that young people with cancer felt isolated when they came into hospital, as many wards were for older people or young children. So the Teenage Cancer Trust opened units at City Hospital and QMC hospital for young people 19 to 24 years. Each welcomes inpatients and day patients. There is an attractive social room with soft furniture, TV and DVD player, WiFi, gaming facilities and a kitchen, offering a homely environment. The money collected will be used in these units.
The choir had collections at their Christmas concert, and at a carol sing at the Appletree Pub, West Bridgford.
