Sunday 9th March is the annual Day of Reflection across the UK for the COVID-19 pandemic.
It’s an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives since the pandemic began, and to honour the tireless work and acts of kindness shown during this unprecedented time.
2025 marks five years since the pandemic began and we continue to honour and remember those affected.
People and communities are invited to come together on the COVID-19 Day of Reflection to mark the day in ways that feel meaningful to them.
Anyone is welcome to visit Rushcliffe Borough Council’s COVID-19 memorial in Bridgford Park in West Bridgford (pictured right) on the day, or at any time, to take a moment and remember anyone affected by its impacts.
The steel obelisk memorial in the park was installed in 2022 and symbolises the NHS workers, carers and key workers who were there for those in need. It carries the inscription:
Remembering all those affected by COVID-19
This memorial commemorates those in Rushcliffe who lost their lives during the pandemic and the incredible efforts of all those who gave so much helping others. Forever in our thoughts and prayers.
