On Saturday 3 March, 51 singers of all ages, abilities and experience, from the anxious to the expert, came together at St Peter’s Church for the very first time in a charity event to raise funds for the Ngora Hospital Charity through the Teso Development Trust. After an exhausting but enjoyable afternoon, the choir gave their first public performance when they sang four pieces to an audience of family and friends all of whom were incredulous that such a high standard could be achieved in such a short time. Special congratulations go to Joe Owen who sang the lead in Bob Marley’s One Love, backed by the choir singing in 3 parts.
The choir was joined in the concert by the Mirabilé Ladies ensemble, who performed a selection of songs they are preparing for the Sangerstevne International Festival on May 12th and their tour of Italy in June. The concert concluded with the combined voices of the Ruddington Community Choir and Mirabilé singing the highly appropriate ‘Thank You for the Music’. The whole event was a huge success with over £300 raised for the Ngora charity. To find out more, e-mail musical director bernie@brachamusic.co.uk
