The Parish Council provides a wide range of services to local residents, most of which are featured on our website. However, if you’re not into technology, you may not know about them. To help spread the word, we’re starting a series of short articles in the Village Newsletter and online to explain some of these services. The first article is about the Community Bus.
The Community Bus is a free transport service that’s funded by the Parish Council. It operates in the village on Wednesdays, collecting passengers between 9:30am and 11am, with the return journey taking place between 11am and 12noon. The aim of the bus is to help less mobile residents get out and about at least once a week, so they can visit the shops and run other errands in the village centre.
The bus is extremely popular, and is run with the help of volunteer drivers and escorts who supervise the bus on its weekly run. If you’d like to book a seat on the Community Bus, please call the Parish Council Office on 0115 914 6660. Please also get in touch if you’d like to volunteer to help with this valuable service.
