…….
In July 2009 the play park at Vicarage Lane was refurbished and has subsequently been well received and very well used. As a result the Parish Council decided to try and access funding to enable them to refurbish another of our facilities, the play equipment on Elms Park. Early this year a successful bid to the Government funded “Playbuilder” scheme was made but unfortunately the funding was then withdrawn by the Government as part of their “cutbacks”.
Despondency has however turned to delight in that as a result of two other successful bids to the Rushcliffe Community Partnership Reward Grant Scheme and the Rushcliffe Borough Capital Grant Scheme we have managed to procure sufficient funding to enable the proposed scheme to go ahead.
The new facility will include a toddler / young children area, a teen area and even outdoor Vitality Fitness equipment for teenagers and adults of all ages. Proludic are supplying and fitting the equipment and are the same company that previously re-fitted the Vicarage Lane Play Area to great success. It is hoped that (weather permitting) the new facility will be completed in time to give the village a Christmas present they can be proud of.
Some of the more observant readers among you will already have noticed that the main picture shows an area to the rear for multi-use games – for example basketball, soft cricket or tennis. It is hoped that the Parish Council can procure additional funding to complete this stage of the plan sometime in the future.
