The dull and overcast conditions on Monday 21st February, the first day of half term, did not dampen the enthusiasm of the people of Ruddington who attended the Celebration Event for the opening of the new Elms Park Play Area.
Kennedy Denny performed the traditional opening ceremony, supported by her parents and friends. She then played on the “Inclusive Roundabout” which is fully accessible to people with limited mobility. As far as we are aware, Elms Park is the only park within the Borough of Rushcliffe to have such a facility. In addition to the Toddler and Teen areas the park also has outdoor Vitality Fitness equipment for teenagers and adults of all ages. Wooden planters, kindly donated by the new Sainsburys Local, compliment the landscape and are filled with sensory plants.
Ruddington residents, along with invited guests representing the organisations whose support, both practically and financially, made the project a reality enjoyed an afternoon of socialising, playing on the new equipment. There was also the opportunity to make kites, blowers and spinners courtesy of Rushcliffe Play Forum. Refreshments were provided, due to the generosity of the Co-op and Thomas’.
The Parish Council hopes that this new facility will be enjoyed by everyone and we invite you to visit it if you haven’t done so already.
Thanks go to the following organisations who through donations and funding made this facility available: John Hallatt, Notts Co. Cllr. Reg Adair, Proludic Ltd., Ruddington Parish Council, Rushcliffe B.C. Capital Grant, Rushcliffe B. Cllrs. Mrs B. Venes, Mrs S. Bennett & P. F. McGowan, Rushcliffe Community Partnership Reward Grant Scheme and Sainsburys Local.
