After visiting Grenay’s Irish twin town, Bally Shannon, for their music festival, Ruddington was once again on the itinerary for 17 French visitors, of whom 13 were teenagers.
On their arrival on Friday7th August they enjoyed a fish and chip supper in St Peter’s Rooms before returning to their hotel.
Saturday morning saw a visit to the Framework Knitters Museum to experience Victorian Ruddington, and its early industry. Long scarves were knitted in the Griswold room followed by sandwiches in the Chapel. In the afternoon Nottingham Castle and the Market Square were visited and the short stopover was rounded off by a meal in The Three Spices Restaurant. On Sunday morning they headed for Dover and the ferry.
Twinning activities continue in October when the Ruddington Community Choir visit Grenay. If you would like to get involved in the future twinning activities contact the Parish Council.
