Well, hopefully in the sun anyway – you never know with the British summer! As we recently reported, more and more event organisers are using our beautiful Country Park for all kinds of activities. Here’s the lowdown on some of the events booked for July.
A plethora of walks and runs
If you’re looking to raise money for a good cause this summer, or simply want to keep fit, look no further than Rushcliffe Country Park. There are no fewer than 4 fundraising walks and runs happening this month: Boots Macmillan 10k and 2k (3 July), Many Tears Animal Rescue Sponsored Walk (10 July), Beagle Welfare Beagle Walk (24 July) and Mouth Foundation Charity Fundraiser Walk & Café (30 July).

Crumbs Café with Nethergate School
Based in Clifton, Nethergate School is a Special School for children with complex learning difficulties, many of whom also have additional needs. The school offers both primary and secondary education, with pupils following a curriculum tailored to their individual needs.
On Monday 4 and 11 July, the school’s 6th form students will be gaining real-world experience by running the ‘Crumbs Café’ at the Country Park’s Visitor Centre between 11am and 2pm. They’ll be serving a variety of toasted sandwiches, home-made cakes and hot and cold drinks for visitors to enjoy. Why not come along and show your support?
Are you a natural navigator?
Orienteering is an adventure sport that tests your navigational skills and fitness in order to complete a course in the fastest possible time. If this takes your fancy, why not take part in the Nottinghamshire Orienteering Club (NOC) Summer Series at the Country Park from 10am to 1pm on Sunday 23 July? The event is suitable for adults and juniors at all fitness levels. Visit www.noc-uk.org for more information.
Chalfield Dog Training Club, based in East Leake, will be returning to the Country Park on Sunday 31 July for a Charity Dog Show. You can enter your dog in a variety of classes and enjoy all the dog-related fun you can shake a stick at! Call 0115 928 2641 for details.
