Did you know that the Framework Knitters Museum is planning to embark on an ambitious expansion and redevelopment project? The museum is aiming to completely transform its space by incorporating the recently-acquired Gunn Cottage into the site, and redeveloping the existing museum buildings and chapel.
The project should double the museum’s current footprint, creating a new and improved experience for visitors. There will also be lots of benefits for local people, such as a new family history research space, enhanced tea shop and Textile Emporium, and high quality meeting space for community groups and clubs.
To achieve their ideas and aspirations, the Framework Knitters Museum needs to raise around £600,000 – and they need your help to make this happen! There are lots of ways you can support the museum’s fundraising appeal, from simply making a donation to organising a fundraising event, such as a coffee morning or sponsored walk.
The museum has recently launched quarterly fundraising news and updates email to keep interested people up to date with their fundraising activities and progress. If you’d like to sign up, please email museum Trustee Faye Stenson at fayestenson@gmail.com and ask to be added to the list.
For more information about the expansion and redevelopment project and fundraising appeal, please visit the ‘Get Involved’ section of the museum’s website: www.frameworkknittersmuseum.org.uk.
An easy – and attractive – way to support the museum’s appeal is to buy a copy of their 2016 calendar. Featuring 12 beautiful, full-colour photos of the site, the calendar is on sale now in the Textile Emporium, priced at £6. To order copies by post, please call 0115 984 6914.
