Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) has continued its investment in Rushcliffe Country Park’s popular play area with the addition of new inclusive play equipment and resurfaced paths to improve accessibility.
The play area now features new auditory sensory play items, including eco chimes, an eco-rain wheel, a musical bell tree, a giant ‘Four in a row’ game, interactive play panels and more, to provide a fun and engaging experience for children of all abilities.
To further enhance accessibility, all pathways within the play area will be resurfaced with tarmac, featuring playful animal graphics.
The path resurfacing work took place during the first week of April, whilst the play area was temporarily closed. RBC apologises for any inconvenience and appreciates residents’ patience while these improvements took place. The new inclusive play features were installed later in April.
The project follows last spring’s successful refurbishment, which introduced a variety of new and inclusive play equipment, such as a pendulum pod swing and wheelchair-accessible seesaw, for all children to enjoy.
A spokesperson said “Rushcliffe Country Park is among the jewels in the crown of our borough, attracting over 300,000 visitors a year and the play area is very popular with children and young people.
“We’re delighted to continue our investment in the playground by introducing even more inclusive play equipment ensuring that children of all abilities can enjoy our play parks together. The upgraded tarmac paths will also improve accessibility for wheelchair users and pushchairs.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience during the temporary play area closure in early April, which was necessary to ensure the safety of visitors while the work was completed.
“These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing play facilities and leisure spaces across the borough, aligning with our Play Strategy that focuses on the importance of environmental and educational opportunities that enrich our residents’ quality of life.”
