Autumn is coming and for nature reserves this heralds that start of the work party season. Whether it is looking after the infrastructure, mowing meadows, cutting back the scrub or giving ponds a bit of TLC it is time to get out in the fresh air. This sort of activity helps to maintain some of our best wildlife habitats and the species that use them. Our local nature reserves surrounded by farming and/or housing require active management to prevent them losing their interest in the long run. If this sort of work appeals to you now is as good a time as any to get up and out.
Your local work party is Wilwell Farm Cutting – Meets on the first Saturday of each month, 1pm till 4pm. Work includes grassland maintenance and coppicing. Contact Gordon Dyne on 0115 8784842.
