The Parish Council’s Senior Groundsman has been nominated for Notts F.A.’s Groundsman of the Year award. Ruddington Village FC put Chris Churches forward for the award to acknowledge the effort put in to keep the 6 pitches in tip top condition and playable even during this very wet season.
He was interviewed by a representative from the Football Association and the stadium manager from Notts. County Football Club and is waiting to hear their decision.
Chris, his assistant groundsman Scott Evans and seasonal worker Steve Mills, are not only responsible for the football pitches, but also for the cricket wickets, bowling green, cemeteries, play areas and numerous open spaces including the Green and the War Memorial.
