Recently, as I walked home at 6pm when it was dark, I noticed a street light that wasn’t working on my road.
2 days later I noticed water seeping out of the tarmac on Asher Lane. My first reaction to both was “someone needs to do something about that“.
Then I quickly realised that that “someone” was me!
Firstly I contacted Nottinghamshire County Council, as I knew they were responsible for Street Lights. Next evening it was working.
Regarding the leak I contacted Severn Trent Water. Although it was a Friday I saw a team there over the weekend tracing the problem and by Tuesday the road had been dug up, pipe repaired and tarmac reinstated. RESULT!
Severn Trent actually thanked me for letting them know and make the pertinent comment that if “they don’t know about a problem how can they resolve it?”
If you feel inclined to be that someone the people you need to contact are
Rushcliffe Borough Streetwise Team
for litter or graffiti
Nottinghamshire County Council
for faulty street lights and traffic lights, excessive weeds or plant growth on pavements, damaged pavements, flooding or drainage problems on roads.
Severn Trent
for water leaks.
All have website reporting systems or they can be phoned.
Thank you
