2011 has been a particularly good year for Ruddington’s Shotokan Karate Club. The club, affiliated to the ‘Federation of English Karate Organisations’ [F.E.K.O.] and a member of Community Shotokan, has been established in Ruddington for over 30 years. This year the Senior Instructor Robert Pannell of Bladon Road was promoted by the Chairman of F.E.K.O and the Chief Instructor of Community Shotokan to 5th Dan. Also this year, five students passed their Black Belts in front of the Chief Instructor for the Association. This added two brothers who live in Ruddington to the senior ranks which already included their older brother who is a 2nd Dan. At the same grading in December, two 3rd Dan instructors at the club were promoted to 4th Dan for their achievements and dedication to the art within the local area.
At the moment we have an abundance of Instructors who wish to pass on this knowledge to new and dedicated beginners. There is a friendly family atmosphere at our club, which allows you to participate without feeling overwhelmed or inadequate. The instructors will explain all the basic exercises and techniques needed to enable you to prepare for your first grading. Everyone can benefit from karate training and we encourage parents and children to train together as a family.
Training is on a Sunday morning or Wednesday evening at the Village Hall. Give it a go in the New Year, ring Rob 07943719113 for details.
