A big thank you is due to the ladies from Ruddington (and Scotland!) who have been busy providing wool and knitting 31 matinee coats, 61 bonnets, 20 pairs of mittens and 19 pairs of booties for the Maternity Unit in Ngora Hospital, Teso, Uganda. Most of the items will be used in the care of newborn and premature babies. There are no incubators in the hospital and even in Africa these infants need to be kept warm. They will be taken out and distributed by a team of medics including midwife Carol McCormick and specialist nurse Liz Houghton, who first visited Ngora in 2010 with the Dixons and the Thirds from St. Peter’s Church. The team,
part of the Ngora Hospital Group Nottingham, will be flying out on 1st July. We wish them a safe journey and a successful visit. (by Honor Dixon)
