At the last meeting of Ruddington Parish Council on Tuesday 14th May, Councillors approved the purchase of a bespoke mascot costume which will be named “Ruddy Duck”. The name is an amusing play on words, referring to the name of the village as well as a species of duck which has visited Rushcliffe Country Park.
The Events Team said: “We’re delighted that the Parish Council supported our proposal to purchase a mascot costume. We believe the Ruddy Duck character will give a lot of enjoyment to youngsters in Ruddington, enhance our various events and generally raise the profile of Ruddington.
We’ve already had one request for Ruddy Duck to attend a community event, so be sure to keep an eye out for him when you’re out and about in Ruddington!”
