Ylenia Astegiano has recently been co-opted to the Parish Council and now represents Flawford Ward. Together with our other new councillors, who we’ll be introducing in future issues, we’d like to welcome Ylenia on board.
“I’m a 29 year old Italian that moved to England in 2014 for the first time, fell in love with it and decided to build a life here,” says Ylenia. “Back in Italy I grew up in a little village, a bit like Ruddington, where I was involved in the local youth clubs and the community club, running events. I was also part of the marching band and the church choir.
“I work as a wine advisor in Loughborough and I’ve been living in Ruddington since autumn 2019 with my husband, after a year in West Bridgford. I look forward to being part of the community again here in the village.”
Ylenia adds: “After the decision of the Parish Council to co-opt me to fill one of the vacancies for Flawford Ward, I’m keen to put my skills and energy to good use in promoting the village and its unique identity.”
You can contact Ylenia through the Parish Council office or email yleniaastegiano@gmail.com.
There are still some vacancies on the Parish Council. If you’re interested in getting involved, please contact the Parish Clerk, Claire Dorans, to find out more about the role.
