….is what’s on offer from Ruddington’s latest new businesses!
Muscles come courtesy of ‘Ironworks Gym’ – a brand new gymnasium which opened on the 24thof November on Brookside Road, just behind Malmic Lace. It’s one of only two dedicated bodybuilding centres in South Nottm. It has been set up from scratch by Robert Richardson and business partner Nick Clarke, who has twenty years’ personal training experience.
Robert told us “We’ve got two floors of top of the range professional equipment plus changing rooms, but with no frills – meaning that we can charge sensible prices. You don’t need membership or to sign a contract and it only costs £3.50 for a single session. But we do offer special longer term packages and the option of a personal trainer. We’re not a health club – but we do have a supplements shop, ‘The Protein Bar’. As well as all the weights, we’ve also got a running machine and will expand the cardio section if there’s a demand.”
Further new gym equipment is already planned – along with the installation of rubber mat flooring. Meantime Robert hopes that people won’t be frightened to give it a try: “Just call in for a chat – we’re open for everyone – men, women and children. And we’ve got free private car parking right outside, too!”
Motors are back on sale at the former Hall’s Garage on Easthorpe Street! In partnership with Jason Dickman’s recently launched ‘Ruddington Garage’ (which offers MOTs, servicing and repairs) the showroom and forecourt to the front has reopened under the name ‘Ruddington Car Sales’. Proprietor Anthony Stephenson, who has 35 years’ experience as a car salesman, has re-located his business here from Mapperley.
Anthony says “Ruddington is a nice village and this is an ideal site. I’ll be offering a wide selection of used vehicles ranging from hatchbacks to luxury cars. I’m currently doing a refurbishment of the showroom and we’ll be fully open for business at the start of January. But we already have plenty of cars for sale for anyone who’s looking to change sooner than that”.
STOP PRESS: A new Wine Bar/Bistro will be opening at the end of January in the former laundry at 6 Wilford Road – run by McArtney’s Catering. Look out for a full article and photos in The Village Newsletter soon! (By Graham Wright)
