Village residents will benefit from two brand new buses being added to Ruddington’s most direct city service this month.
Trent Barton has announced that two “Optare Solo SR” buses (pictured) will join their fleet – and used on the “Ruddington Connection” route that serves our village and Clifton via Wilford and Trent Bridge to Nottingham. The operator’s Team Leader Christian Allen-Clay told us: “The investment into this is in the region of £250,000 and will see the Ruddington Connection carrying Trent Barton’s new identity. Optare is a British Company which we are proud to be working with”. It is claimed that “the state-of-the-art buses feature the latest environmentally friendly engines and fuel efficiency technology and give the lowest emissions”.
The new buses are a little longer than the existing dedicated vehicles on the route and will accommodate up to 37 seated passengers as well as dedicated room for buggies and wheelchair users. This should be welcome news for commuters, following recent frustration that some buses have been full and unable to pick up further passengers at peak times. (Graham Wright)
