Rushcliffe Voluntary Transport Scheme has been providing community transport for over 30 years, using voluntary drivers who love helping people get out and about.
Our Voluntary Transport service is for people who don’t have a car, have poor mobility, find it difficult to use public transport, or live in rural areas with poor transport links and find it hard to get around. This can lead to feelings of isolation, loneliness and a lack of independence. Rushcliffe CVS provides community transport to help people live more independent lives.
Our volunteers provide a ‘door to door’ service to a variety of destinations, for example:
- Doctor’s and other health appointments
- Shopping
- Leisure and social activities
- Visiting friends and family
- Day centres and lunch clubs
Our drivers can wait for up to an hour for you, or come back at a prearranged time to take you home if required.
Our Transport Plus Service is an extension of our successful voluntary transport scheme.
As well as driving, our Transport Plus volunteers can provide extra support including:
- Assistance with shopping, e.g. accompanying you around the supermarket and carrying your shopping
- Accompanying you on social and recreational activities outside the home
- Attending as an observer or chaperone at GP surgery appointments
- Simply sharing a cup of tea and a chat with you.
Our customers are full of praise for the service, with typical comments from a recent survey revealing:
“Your volunteers are wonderful and so helpful – carrying shopping and helping me get up steps. They also chat which is nice when you live on your own.”
“The driver who takes me to visit my husband is very kind and trustworthy. I have nothing but praise for the service and for the drivers.”
Our volunteers give their time because they care and, like our staff, are trained and police checked for your peace of mind. If you make regular bookings, we’ll try to allocate you someone who’ll get to know you personally. All our staff and volunteers will always do their best to meet your individual needs and make sure you’re given the service and the information you need to maintain your independence.
To book a journey, please call our friendly team on 0115 9699060 or email transport@rushcliffecvs.org.uk. We’re open Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Please note that, as a charity we need to charge for some of our services to help cover the cost of running them. This includes our Voluntary Transport and Transport Plus Services. We strive to offer high quality services at prices that are affordable to those who need them.
