A new scheme is in place at Evans Pharmacy allowing pharmacists to refer patients directly to GPs at the Gamston Medical Centre on Saturday mornings.
To use the service, just call into the pharmacy before 11.30am on a Saturday and you’ll be assessed by staff there. If they think you need to see a doctor, they will then be able to refer to you on.
“We treat as many people as possible at the pharmacy, so if you’re feeling unwell we may be able to help you there and then,” says pharmacist Emma Anderson (pictured). “But if you need a GP referral, this scheme could save you the need to go through the NHS 111 system to see a doctor at a weekend.
“Don’t forget, we can provide treatments during the week for those who don’t pay for prescriptions via our NHS minor ailment scheme. We can also provide you with an emergency supply of many prescription medicines if you run out at the weekend.
“So please do call in and see how we can help.”
