This September, Ruddington Village Museum is thrilled to open the “Objects and Stories” exhibition to the public for the first time. The exhibition will take place in the Framework Knitters Museum Chapel and has been curated by local volunteers with support from Nottingham Trent University staff and students.
The museum will be presenting a small but wonderful collection of objects from local residents, each of which has a fascinating story behind its existence. They include historical photographs and documents, souvenirs from around the world, vintage household items, and one object that seems to defy explanation altogether.
All objects have been kindly loaned to Ruddington Village Museum by members of Ruddington’s community, and each will leave you with something to think about. Their unique stories span many times and places – from mountaineering adventures in Nepal, to famous controversies in international cricket history, and an arduous caravan journey across the North American plains.
Make sure to visit the Chapel at the Framework Knitters Museum between Saturday 21st September and Saturday 5th October. Opening times will be Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 4.30pm. Activities for children will also be on offer. Admission to the exhibition, Textile Emporium and tea shop is free. However, please note that normal admission fees apply if you’d like to visit the main museum site.
If you have a significant object of your own, you can bring it along to the Chapel on Saturday 28th September between 11am and 2pm to share its story. It could be included in a future project.
