An Open Day will be held at Wilwell Cutting Nature Reserve on Wilford Road on Saturday 1st June, from 10am to 4pm. You can enjoy the early summer wildflowers, including Southern Marsh Orchids, which are labelled up around the reserve. There’ll also be some guided walks taking place.
Wilwell Cutting is recognised as one of the finest wildflower sites in Nottinghamshire with more than 230 species recorded so far. Around 20 species of butterfly have also been recorded, as well as over 60 grasses, sedges and rushes, and a large number of tree species.
The road entrance to the Nature Reserve is on the left as you approach the ring road underpass, going towards Wilford. Car parking is available. The NCT 3 bus passes the entrance – get off at Wilford Industrial Estate just past the Nature Reserve. Or why not make the most of the fresh air and walk down from Ruddington?
You’re welcome to bring your dog, but please keep it on a lead as grazing animals are often present at the site.
