As usual, there will be two events commemorating the Armistice and Remembrance Day this November.
However, this year’s Armistice Day service will be slightly different from usual as it will feature the dedication of the new Roll of Honour board for the War Memorial garden on Church Street, as reported last month.
The dedication ceremony will take place on Saturday 11th November at 10:45am, to be followed by the usual two minute silence at 11am and the playing of The Last Post by the Army Cadets’ Bugler.
On Sunday 12th November, a Parade and Service of Remembrance will be held at the War Memorial, followed by Morning Service at St. Peter’s Church.
Weather permitting, the parade of local organisations – headed by the Ruddington Detachment RHR Corps of Drums and Bugles – will march to the War Memorial before the service.
Members of the public who are driving to the service are asked to park considerately and arrive in plenty of time as road closures will be in place for the duration of the event.
