On Saturday 19th May, more than 30 households on Grange Avenue, Brookside Road, Brookside Gardens and Fairham Close celebrated the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with a street party on Grange Avenue.
The party, organised by Rebecca Streets, Heidi Rose, Melissa Blades and Rebecca Clifton, was extremely well supported by residents. Grange Avenue was closed for the afternoon and it was beautifully decorated with union flag bunting, a custom-made graffiti sign and red, white and blue balloons.
People of all generations attended, taking the opportunity to catch up with friends and make new ones. A huge communal buffet afternoon tea including sandwiches, quiches, cakes and scones, jam and cream, was enjoyed by everyone and the children enjoyed the bouncy castle, outdoor toys, face paints and crafts.
The sun shone all afternoon and a great time was had by all. The organisers would like to thank everyone on Grange Avenue for allowing the road closure, and to all the residents who attended and contributed to the street party. The organisers hope that everyone enjoyed the street party and that it will be remembered for years to come.
