Back in the dim and distant past of Lockdown 1 (or was 2, 3 or 4?) we had a dream.
A dream to be a community again, to have fun, to be with those we care about, to remember those we lost, to mark what has been one of the most traumatic events of recent years. To get back to some sort of normality: together.
Out of that dream, RUDDBEST was born. So what on earth is RUDDBEST?
RUDDBEST is a major celebration on 2nd October 2021, following on from the monthly Village Market, with events taking place across two major spaces in the village centre: the Village Green and St Peter’s Church campus.
It will be a celebration of all that is great about living in Ruddington and being part of the community here. Planned and run entirely by volunteers, the event is non-profit making and run by the people of Ruddington, for the people of Ruddington.
Attractions include Games on the Green, Fun Dog Show, Teddy Bears’ Picnic, Traditional Tea Dances, Little ‘Ps’ go Wild, Best Scarecrow Competition, Bring and Share What You’ve Grown (allotment swap shop), Ruddington Community Choir, live music, Pause to Ponder stations, belly dancers (yes, Ruddington does have its own group!) storytelling and comedy skits. It will all be rounded off with a community supper followed by live jazz in the church (bring your own alcohol).
It promises to be a fantastic day, and we still need more volunteers. If you can spare some time to help, please contact Jane or Liz on 07967 443 463 and or 07967 443 464.
