Do you enjoy singing?
Were you inspired by Gareth Malone and his Military Wives’ choir?
I can’t promise a number 1 hit single, but I can guarantee to lift your spirits through song when you join the brand new Ruddington Community Choir.
The choir is open to everyone, regardless of experience, ability or confidence. There are no auditions; songs will be taught by ear, so you don’t have to be able to read music, though sheet music, along with recordings, will be available on request. Music will be varied to include pop, gospel and folk, and there will be solo opportunities for more experienced singers. A course of 10 sessions costs £35 in advance, or £4 a session.
Rehearsals will take place on Tuesday evenings from 8.00-9.30pm at St Peter’s Church starting on Tuesday 13 March. However, the choir will be launched in a special event ‘Sing for Ngora’ on Saturday 3 March at St Peter’s Church. This will consist of a singing workshop from 2.00 until 5.00, followed by an informal concert for friends and family. The cost to take part in the workshop is £15 (£10 concessions) and will include 2 tickets for the concert, refreshments and all music. Concert tickets for non-participants are £3 (£2 concessions). Proceeds will be donated to the Ruddington Churches’ Ngoro charity through TESO Development Trust.
Further details on joining the choir and/or attending the workshop are available from Cathy Troup, choir co-ordinator: cathy@brachamusic.co.uk; mobile: 07909 926129.
