What are you doing on 19th May? Watching the Cup Final or the Royal Wedding on TV? Or, maybe you’re one of the lucky ones and have tickets for one of these events! Why not round off your day at St Peter’s Church and enjoy an evening of music by the father of English music, Henry Purcell, performed by the Ruddington & District Choral Society, the Ruddington Chamber Ensemble and soloists?
Purcell’s music is amongst the greatest ever written. Composed for royalty and great events, his music is part of our nation’s heritage. It’s music for great occasions: royal weddings, celebrating victories and singing England’s praises. From the solemn and achingly beautiful to the glorious and profoundly spiritual, Purcell will enchant and mesmerise you.
So how about it? Come along to St Peter’s at 7.30 pm on Saturday May 19th where you can enjoy some of England’s greatest music on this great national day. Works including Dido and Aeneas, the Funeral Music for Queen Mary, the Suite from Abdelazer and other much loved Purcell compositions are guaranteed to make it a day to remember!
