A year ago in March 2018, 100 retired and semi-retired local residents attended an information meeting about starting a U3A (The University of the Third Age) in Ruddington.
The aim of this new venture in the village is “to enable members to enrich their lives with new skills and experiences, pursue their interests, form new friendships and enjoy a sense of belonging to a vibrant community”.
At the launch meeting, a small group volunteered to form a Steering Group to plan the inaugural meeting of the Ruddington & District U3A, which took place in May 2018.
Since then, the U3A has gone from strength to strength and the monthly meetings, which are held at 2pm on the 3rd Monday of the month at the Methodist Church, are well-attended and the list of interest groups and the number of members is increasing monthly.
