Since its launch on 21st May, the new U3A group has gone from strength to strength. It provides monthly general meetings for retired and semi-retired people. These take the format of a guest speaker, information about interest groups, refreshments and time to socialise.
Over 100 people have paid their £20 annual membership fee and have joined groups for walking, photography, history, visits, gardening and reading to name just a few.
The next meeting is on 20th August at 2pm at the Methodist Church, Charles Street. The guest speaker will be Dr Tim Gray, who’ll give a talk about the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme – a network of specially-trained doctors who assist the ambulance service at the scene of life-threatening emergencies.
Please feel free to pop in to see what U3A is all about.
