One year old and kicking!
A simple idea of local Ruddington resident Ron McSweeney to organise a monthly venue of live folk and blues music has become a resounding success – not only with local musicians but with residents as well.
These free, feel-good evenings take place every third Thursday of the month at The Country Cottage Hotel on Easthorpe Street, where you can hear a wide variety of musical genres. There’s something for everyone: folk, blues, ragtime, traditional, country, pop, jazz, sing-a-longs and even novelty! It’s a place that both encourages beginners who feel they’re ready to perform in front of an audience, and red hot professionals who slip in to play some sublime numbers. And the audience is always encouraged to join in with many of the songs.
With a well-stocked bar in the hotel and some very worthy raffle prizes laid on, this is a Thursday night well worth coming out for. Happy first anniversary to Ron and his simple idea. Ruddington is much the richer for it. Come along and find out for yourself.
