A practical helping role
The Patients’ Participation Group is looking for volunteers prepared to engage with patients in the practice waiting rooms with tasks such as:
- Guiding patients at ‘flu clinics.
- Publicising the various NHS screening programmes and other initiatives, such as Bowel Cancer Awareness, Support for Carers, Eye Health, Diabetic Awareness, etc.
- Encouraging patients to register for online prescriptions and appointment bookings
- Completing questionnaires such as the Friends and Family Test.
How often would I need to help?
Some of the activities described above annual, such as ‘flu clinics and bowel cancer screening awareness, whilst others are ongoing, e.g. the Friends and Family test.
How much time is involved?
You can offer as little or as much time as you like. To avoid clashes, the PPG secretary produces a rota following offers of help.
Are the medical staff supportive of the PPG?
The GPs and other staff within the practice are keen to foster greater patient involvement between the PPG and the medical team. Current PPG members say they’re always welcomed in the practice for the work they do.
Interested?
Email the PPG at rmc.ppg@virginmedia.com or call Ruddington Medical Centre on 0115 921 1144 and leave a message with Reception, and someone will get back to you.
