In the Ruddington Village Plan, which was launched in the summer, 96% of you said that you wanted the Parish Council to develop a Neighbourhood Plan. Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.
Communities can have a say in where new homes, shops and offices are built, and also have input into what the new buildings should look like. This plan, when complete, carries legal weight in planning decisions so it is an important document.
Well, you spoke and we listened. The Parish Council voted unanimously to produce a Neighbourhood Plan and we have established a Project Team to take this forward. This team is made up of Parish Councillors and enthusiastic members of our community with varied interests and knowledge. Rushcliffe Borough Council is helping by providing an advisor and we are in the process of selecting and appointing consultants to assist with the consultation and plan writing process.
Consulting with the Ruddington Community is an essential part of producing a Neighbourhood Plan as we want to know what is important to you so, please, keep your eyes open to what is happening on this front in the New Year.
