Ruddington Veterinary Centre has joined forces with rescue shelters and the Davison Veterinary Group to help find new homes for 100 kittens in Nottinghamshire. The Kitten Aid appeal was launched last October and is already more than half way to reaching its target, with 58 cats adopted by the start of April.
Ruddington Vets are supporting the appeal by offering free vaccinations, worming, microchipping and neutering to the first 100 kittens adopted from Millward Cat Rescue in West Bridgford and Notts Cat Rescue in Clifton. Practice director Jane McLaghlan comments: ‘We wanted people to get a kitten without worrying about vets’ bills. Now, the shelters can take in new rescues and it frees up space for the older cats who are harder to re-home.’
Although Kitten Aid is proving successful, spring is a peak time for cat breeding and local rescue centres are worried they’ll once again be inundated with unwanted kittens in a few weeks’ time. If you’re willing to offer a kitten or older cat a home, please contact Millward Cat Rescue on 0115 9235704 or Notts Cat Rescue on 0115 9211308 for more information.
