This year, to mark 800 years since Magna Carta was granted by King John, there have been exhibitions and lectures across the land, and we don’t want Ruddington to miss out!
So the October lecture at the Framework Knitters Museum takes a look at one of the world’s most famous documents in the company of Dr Claire Taylor – an Associate Professor in the History Department of the University of Nottingham.
The event takes place on Tuesday 20 October at 7.30pm in the old Methodist Chapel, Chapel Street.
Was King John all bad? Why did the Pope get involved? What happened to Magna Carta after the death of King John? How did the North Americans make use of it? And how does it affect us in 2015? We hope Claire will answer all these questions and more, as she takes us on a journey through time from the Middle Ages to the present day.
Tickets at £5 are available from the Museum or phone 0115 9845375.
