At 9.30am on a Sunday morning in April, 73 children from both St Peter’s School and James Peacock Infant and Nursery School took part in a sponsored 2km run at Rushcliffe Country Park. “Run for Reading” was held to raise money to enhance the book resources at the schools.
The event was made possible by a joint effort between the Friends of School members, parents and carers, the park rangers and the Junior Parkrun team. All the children were cheered and applauded as they headed for the finish line. After the run, there were cakes and drinks available to support the Friends of Rushcliffe Country Park.
Huge thanks go to Laura Ratcliffe for leading on the event, to the Parkrun team for their support and to the generous sponsors, as the event raised over £1,100. It’s hoped that “Run for Reading” will now become an annual event.
