Rushcliffe Country Park’s play area is now open following investment in refurbishments, with upgrades and new accessible equipment for all children to enjoy at the popular site.
The park now boasts a new Kanope Tower multi-play unit featuring 14 different play elements and a new wooden trail, and which offers panoramic views of the park.
The play area has also welcomed a new pendulum pod swing and a fully inclusive wheelchair see-saw.
Existing equipment has been refurbished and improved, with the full scheme adding 28 new play elements and 47 additional user activities.
The upgrades are part of £175,000 of further investment to local facilities from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) at Rushcliffe Country Park and Greythorn Drive Park in West Bridgford.
The works have been completed by Bradmore-based playground equipment supplier, Proludic Ltd, who designed the updated features.
To mark the reopening of the play area, RBC, Proludic Ltd and local children from St Peter’s Junior School celebrated with a ribbon cutting at the park on Monday 10th June.
Mayor of Rushcliffe, Cllr Andy Brown, said: “Rushcliffe Country Park is the jewel in the crown of Rushcliffe. With the new café, toilets, skate park and refurbished paths, the park is a great place for everyone of all ages to visit.
“I’m especially pleased to see the addition of the new, fully inclusive wheelchair friendly seesaw and the new canopy tower, which help to make sure the play area is a great place for all children to enjoy!”
St Peter’s Headteacher, Michael Bradley, added: “We were delighted to be invited to the official re-opening of the play area at Rushcliffe Country Park.
“As a regular visitor with my two young children, I was keen to see the improvements that had been made and was extremely impressed.
“Our Year 3 pupils had a fantastic time exploring and playing on the new equipment and had a great afternoon.
“We’d like to thank Rushcliffe Borough Council for the invitation as well as Proludic, the company who constructed the new park facilities, for the goodie bags they provided for our pupils – a very kind gesture that topped off a fantastic afternoon.”
Proludic MD, Rob Baker, said: “We are thrilled to unveil the new additions on the playground at Rushcliffe Country Park, featuring our Kanope Tower, pendulum pod swing, and an Inclusive wheelchair accessible seesaw.
“At Proludic, we’re dedicated to creating play spaces where every child, regardless of their abilities, can participate and have fun. This new playground embodies our commitment to inclusivity and adventure, and we can’t wait to see the joy it brings to the local community.”
RBC is implementing a series of developments at Rushcliffe Country Park following user surveys, consultations, and feedback from residents. Other recent investments include a new café and outdoor shelter, visitor centre, bookable meeting room, electric vehicle charging points, pathway restoration work, refurbished toilets, and shade sails.
The nearby skatepark and bmx track at the site have also seen £200,000 of refurbishments in recent years.
