Thank you so much to everyone who came along to our Teddy Bear Parachute Jump on Saturday 16th September. We were so fortunate to have a fine, warm and partly sunny afternoon and I’m delighted to say the event was once again a great success and raised £600 for Save the Children!
70 children brought along their soft toys and parachutes and watched excitedly as the parachutes were launched from the roof of St Peter’s Church. All but two made successful landings – one got caught in a tree and one landed on a small roof above the doorway, but both were rescued unharmed!
The church staff were magnificent; they spent all afternoon up on the roof both launching the parachutes and giving an excellent running commentary. We’re very grateful for their support!
As well as the parachutes, there were stalls selling cakes and biscuits, soft toys and Save the Children Christmas cards, which were all well supported. We also ran a children’s lucky dip game, which proved very popular.
We hope to be able to repeat the event at some time in the future, perhaps in 2025.
